Hüsker Dü's Influence on Punk Rock
Hüsker Dü influenced punk rock in many different ways. Before Hüsker Dü, hardcore punk bands' songs were fast and short and were not very melodic. They also only used a drum set, bass guitar, and electric guitar. Hüsker Dü changed what punk bands could do by using more instruments such as acoustic guitars, pianos, and organs. Also, their songs became longer and more melodic. Hüsker Dü also made a double album that was also a concept album, which no hardcore punk band had done. After Hüsker Dü, punk bands sounded a lot like Hüsker Dü. It was okay for a hardcore punk band to put out a double album or a concept album. Punk bands would also use studio tricks and their songs were longer and more melodious, like Hüsker Dü.
